Summer Fun

(as with previous postings, you can click on each image to get a larger picture)

As we head towards Labor Day, I've been asked to post some pictures of our summer. For 4th of July we rented a 1930's cottage in Palm Springs. Why (you ask) Palm Springs in July? Because the surface of the sun was sold out! Seriously, we like it. We had a great pool & patio. In the foreground is a firepit which (to no one's surprise) we didn't need to use.
I like this pensive picture of Charlotte inside the charming cottage. I'm standing in the kitchen & she's sitting in the breakfast nook.
We spent a lot of time in the pool. Here is a rare moment when our mermaids came ashore for nourishment...During the heat of the day we came indoors and played Uno, Skipbo orMonopoly. When I was a kid, we never finished a game of Monopoly, because one of us would cry. Some things never change - this game ended with tears! I won't say who cried...

If you've ever played cards with Charlotte, you know - this girl knows how to win!
Back home and here's a quick snap of the girls enjoying dessert in the swings
Savannah's birthday party was in our backyard. Here the girls decorate purses...
The theme of the party was the popular TV show "Hannah Montana". The slip-n-slide has nothing to do with "Hannah Montana", but when it is a warm summer day and all your friends are here, the slip-n-slide is a lot of fun. Here's Savannah's take-off and landing...Little sister Charlotte having a slide...
Savannah's BIG birthday present is a lizard. A Leopard Gecko lizard to be precise. Here are the girls, waiting for the new lizard (aka "Frankie") to step out of the paper bag and into her new home. (sorry I don't actually have a picture of Frankie!)...
Lesli and the girls went on a two-week trip to Florida and West Virginia to see relatives. In Florida, Savannah, showing a strong affinity for reptiles, holds an Anaconda at GatorWorld...
In West Virginia, here is Charlotte cooling off at a waterpark. Note the Atlanta Braves cap (major point of pride for me!)...

This is Lesli's half-sister Christie and Austin, one of her two sons...Scenic beauty in West Virginia. It's hard to know what Charlotte is thinking...
As we roll into summer's last days, we're spending quality time at the beach. Here is our friend Aubrie with Savannah & Charlotte, goofing around at El Porto in Manhattan Beach.
Coming up next - our Labor Day trip to Yosemite! -DK
